November 2022 meeting

We had an encouraging turnout for our November meeting, including one new member and a some we hadn't seen for a while.  So, welcome, and welcome back!

Isle of Cats

One of the first games played was Isle of Cats, which has been described as "Tetris with cats".  Each player board represents a ship, into which differently shaped cat tiles have to be fitted, in order to rescue them before their home is destroyed.  While doing this, players learn lessons, collect treasures, try to keep cat families together, and earn bonus points in other ways. Some of the cats are weirder than others and  have special powers (cat owners will understand).

There were two "classic" card based games played during the morning.  Dominion is an old favourite deck building type game, which people always seem happy to go back to.

Dominion

Netrunner

Netrunner is a collectible card game, which is now out of print - but there seem to be several sets of cards stashed away by our members.  It was popular on the club's Discord site during lockdown, so this may well not be the last we see of it at meetings.

Quantum

Quantum is a 2-4 player game in which players compete to dominate the galaxy by rolling dice and placing cubes strategically. The playing board is made up of separate tiles, so the layout can be varied.  The dice are pretty too!

After lunch was a game of Kitchen Rush (which was remarkably calm for a multi-player real-time game with eggtimers) followed by Architects of the West Kingdom. Meanwhile, Netrunner continued alongside a game of Castles of Mad King Ludwig.

The day finished off with Codex Naturalis, Tiny Epic Dungeons, and a final couple of rounds of Netrunner.

December meeting

Our next meeting is our Christmas themed event on 10 December. We will again be having Pitch Car and a large prize table (even though we didn't manage to get photos from 2021!). If you have prizes you'd like to donate, please let us know and bring them along.

Please sign up at Meetup if you're coming, and we hope to see you all there!
