March 2024 meeting
We had another good turnout at the March meeting, with new faces and new games. We kicked off with a good variety of games, including Isle of Cats, a very lush version of Firefly, Hallertau, a Magic: the Gathering intro game, and 6 Nimmt followed by Baldur's Gate.
I was playing Baldur's Gate, a reskinned version of Betrayal at House on the Hill. There are much worse games to reskin for a D&D themed game. We had fun with exploring the town, then the betrayal, then the reverse when we had to reunite and fight the real boss monster. Lots of fun.
Around lunchtime, the Isle of Cats table had just moved into the Castles of Mad King Ludwig, and Firefly and Hallertau were still going strong. I played a game of Ticket to Ride (the Anniversary edition of the Europe board) and failed to get any photos of the game in action! Meanwhile, another few played a game of Smash Up.
The Firefly game was still very pretty, so I got a few beauty shots of the pieces.
Things moved on with a game of Viscounts of the West Kingdom, Welcome To… the Moon and an incredibly tight and cagy game of Flamme Rouge. It was a long course, so everyone was keeping an eye on second place and trying to preserve their cards for the final dash. There were no real breakaways throughout the game and I sneaked out the tightest of wins at the end, being ahead by just half a space from second. And the poor sprinter who dropped of the back of the pack ended up with a deck full of nothing but exhaustion.
