The day began with one table diving straight into Clank, exploring the deck-building dungeon crawl with enthusiasm. Meanwhile, other tables got their day going with Scout and Splendor.

Shallow Regrets, the pocket-sized version of the recent Lovecraftian fishing game Deep Regrets made its debut. Compact yet flavourful, it offered a quick experience filled with eerie artwork and tough decisions. After trying Shallow Regrets, the same table moved on to the magnificent Unconscious Mind, an impressive worker placement game about the birth of modern psychoanalysis. In Unconscious Mind, players act as contemporaries of Sigmund Freud, trying to treat patients and publish studies through clever mechanisms and thematic artwork. It was a great experience, and not half as complicated as it first appeared!

While Clank and Unconscious Mind continued, other tables enjoyed a variety of games, the colourful Harmonies, the classic Carcassonne, and the cooperative trick-taker The Crew: Deep Sea Mission.

Once the Clank table finished their dungeon crawl, they launched into Scythe, the epic strategy game set in an alternate history universe. Players manage resource production, combat, and territorial control in a richly detailed world, making for a deeply strategic experience. Meanwhile, Potion Explosion made an appearance with another group, bringing its bead-matching fun and alchemical chaos into the mix.

The Unconscious Mind group wrapped up their session and then moved on to Ahoy! from Leder Games, a tense asymmetric sea-faring game where players compete to earn the most Fame through exploration, combat, and smuggling (among other things). After Ahoy! the day concluded with the quick, but compelling Sea Salt and Paper.
A fantastic variety of games and a great social atmosphere—another successful meeting! We’re already looking forward to next month.
Our next meeting is on 1st November. You can see our upcoming meetings on our calendar and our Meetup group.
