December 2022 Meeting

With a good turnout of people, our December meeting saw quite a few games played - some old favourites and some new to the club.

7 Wonders regularly puts in an appearance, but this time we had two versions.  The standard game was played in the morning, then later the Cities and Armada expansions were played.

Longer games included Dune Imperium, Isle of Cats, and Viscounts of the West Kingdom.  I haven't seen the latter at the club before, but it looked fun, combining worker placement, resource gathering, area control and much more.  There seem to be many ways to win.

Lighter games included Mag Blast - a space themed card game in which the object is to blast other players from the universe, and Cascadia - a tile laying game in which players build terrain and then populate it with wildlife.  I think it might be  a bit more complicated than that, so I hope it comes back so I can give it a try.  Just One and the ever popular 6 Nimmt were also played.

Another game making a welcome return was Crokinole, with its beautifully crafted board.  I hope it comes back again soon, as I didn't get round to it this time.

While all this was going on, our traditional annual Pitch Car contest happened, with, as usual, prizes for all participants - including some from Wargames Workshop, which were eagerly pounced on.    The mince pies went down well too.  

2023 meetings

Our 2023 meetings are listed on our calendar, and on our Meetup page. The dates for June and November 2023 may change, depending on events in the hall. But our next meeting is 14 January. Come along and bring all the games you got for Christmas!
