Mosaic Maps, Mordor Marches, and Medieval Mariners
We kicked off September with a great mix of games across the tables. Two big games led the morning session: Lord of the Rings: Fate of the Fellowship, currently riding high in Board Game Geek's "hotness" chart, and Mosaic, a sprawling civilization builder that only hits the table occasionally—but always proves worth the time when it does. Meanwhile, another group opted for a pairing of classics: the ever-popular Ticket to Ride, followed by Reiner Knizia’s abstract gem Ingenious.

Mosaic, TIcket to Ride, Lord of the Rings: Fate of the Fellowship, and Ingenious
The LotR and Mosaic tables ran long into the afternoon. Despite valiant efforts, the Fellowship couldn’t overcome the shadow of Mordor—evil prevailed this time! Still, a thrilling journey through Middle-earth made for a memorable game.
Once Mosaic wrapped up, that group moved on to Quest for El Dorado, a fast-paced deck-building race through jungles and rivers in search of the legendary city of gold. It’s always a hit for its elegant mechanics and tense finish.

Knarr and Quest for Eldorado
After the failure to save Middle Earth, players explored the intrigue of Courtesans—a clever stock market game dressed in the finery of courtly drama. Scheming for influence and manipulating the market made for some sharp tactical play. This was followed by Knarr, a compact yet rich game of Viking recruitment and seafaring. With streamlined turns and satisfying combos, it proved once again that big adventures can come in small boxes.
All in all, a fantastic mix of old favourites and new discoveries!
Our next meeting is on 11th October. You can see our upcoming meetings on our calendar and our Meetup group. Looking forward to some more games and new faces, see you then!
