February’s meet-up was an absolute belter. We had a fantastic turnout, with plenty of familiar faces and lots of newcomers too. The hall was buzzing all day.

A real highlight was welcoming a special guest, a local designer who joined us to demo her party game Blurrb. It was brilliant to meet someone creating games right here in Leighton Buzzard, and even better to hear that the game is being printed locally. We love supporting home-grown creativity!

The day began in suitably epic fashion. One table plunged into the sprawling fantasy adventure of Mage Knight, another formed an adventuring party in The Lord of the Rings: Fate of the Fellowship, while elsewhere gods clashed in Kemet and corporations set about reshaping the red planet in Terraforming Mars.

As the afternoon unfolded, some tables saw their first games give way to something new. The heroes of Mage Knight wrapped up their campaign and moved on to the Nordic fishing industry in Saltfjord (it's more exciting than it sounds, honestly!) The Middle-earth fellowship concluded their quest and shifted gears into the vibrant wheel building of Spokes. Meanwhile, both Terraforming Mars and Kemet proved to be true all-day affairs, their players fully committed from first turn to last.

While the bigger epics were being played, a run of favourites and faster paced titles hit the other tables. Tiles were laid in Carcassonne, cards were cautiously played in 6 nimmt!, ecosystems shifted in Dominant Species: Marine, and hands were carefully managed in Scout. Colourful marbles clattered in Potion Explosion, the Discworld setting shone in The Witches, calmer landscapes emerged in Harmonies and Dorfromantik: The Board Game, and nerves were tested once more in Deep Sea Adventure.

Another superb day of adventures, spanning epic sagas to quick-fire chaos. If you have been thinking about coming along, we would love to see you at the next meet-up.

Our next meeting is on 14th March. You can see our upcoming meetings on our calendar and our Aftergame page.
