Our March meeting had a decent turnout. The day got started with two tables diving into a couple of bigger games, Rising Sun and Speakeasy. Meanwhile the other tables started with games of Clank and Daybreak.

Rising Sun is a game by Eric Lang in which players are competing to control the different provinces of legendary feudal Japan. Each player controls a faction with their own unique powers and over the course of the game can potentially purchase cards which grant upgrades, provide additional scoring opportunities or give players control over powerful monsters. The game has an interesting battle mechanic where players bid coins in order

While the two bigger games were ongoing the other groups were joined by a few late arrivals and moved onto games of Modern Art and Ticket to Ride: Europe, both classic games.

In the afternoon the Modern Art table moved onto games of Flip 7 and the very pretty Spokes, while the other groups continued with their games.

Flip 7 is a simple, yet fun, push your luck game in which players take turns flipping over cards which are added to the cards in front of them, potentially increasing their score. However if they flip over a card with the same number as a card already in front of them they go bust and don't score anything. The deck includes a number of special cards, which can prevent a player going bust, stop another player from flipping over anymore cards or force a player to flip over three cards, potentially making them go bust.

Once the larger games finally finished up the various tables joined together and moved onto games of Bonnanza, Scout and Cat Ass Trophy, a Reiner Knizia game with a silly theme.

The day ended with games of Vulture Culture, the perennial favourite 6 Nimmt, and another game of Scout.

Our next meeting is on 11th April, you can see our upcoming meetings on our calendar and our Aftergame page.
